The Story
Ancient Roots
Bacanora hails from Sonora, Mexico, with a rebellious history. Outlawed until 1992 and made in secret, this agave spirit has been defying expectations for almost 400 years. Crafted from an agave species native to the rugged Sonoran Desert. Bacanora stands out with its rich heritage and distinctive flavor.
Crafted by Tradition
Crafting Bacanora is an age-old tradition that begins with selecting mature agave hearts, known as piñas from an agave species native to the Sonoran Desert. The hearts are then roasted in underground pits for several days, which gives Bacanora its slightly smoky flavor. After roasting, the agave is crushed and fermented in vats before being distilled in steel and copper stills. This careful method results in a complex spirit with a unique blend of earthy and fruity notes.
Forged from Sonora
Bacanora is celebrated for its robust and earthy flavor profile. The spirit offers a rich, slightly smoky taste, balanced by the natural sweetness of agave. Its complexity is enhanced by subtle notes of spices and a touch of the desert's arid, mineral qualities, making every sip a journey through the history and landscape of Sonora.
